President's Report:

Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that January has flown by us so quickly, and my hope for all of you is that 2010 has started off with an abundance of new business opportunities!!

My first month as President has been an exciting one! Whew, do we have a lot going on in our chapter, but before I tell you all of that, I wanted to first acknowledge how honored I am to be working with such a strong board of directors, and like all of our members, they are some of the top event and industry professionals in this area. You all can feel very confident that these fabulous people will do a phenomenal job at representing the Reno -Tahoe NACE Chapter. Also, I want to extend a big personal thank you to Robin Brockelsby, Owner of Creative Coverings, for founding our chapter. Without her vision, ambition, and hard work our chapter would not be here. All of our board members are listed on the website at www.renotahoenace.net, so please take a look at it when you get moment.

Our First NACE meeting of 2010 started off with a fabulous event at Nothing to It! Culinary School, and of course, the evening was filled with all of the elements of what NACE is all about --Great networking opportunities, great education for our businesses and our personal and professional growth, great food, and great friends! A big thanks to Nothing to It! and to our Speaker, Alice Heiman, who helped us all learn how to be more effective in growing sales and relationships in our businesses. And yes, there are even pictures of me cooking…. Now that's worth a look in itself!  All the pictures from our event have been posted on the Reno-Tahoe NACE Facebook page and on our main website as well.

We also have our second annual table top competition coming up at the Silver Legacy in Reno on March 30th, then the National NACE conference in Austin in July, and if you didn’t know, Reno was selected to host the 2011 National NACE conference! This is a big accomplishment for the Reno-Tahoe area, as there will be approximately 900 of the top event and catering professionals from around the country spending almost five days in our region. I guess you can say it’s the biggest FAM trip of this kind.  A little tidbit--Reno was selected over two other destinations, which is a true testament to our area’s talented professionals and to the commitment and strength of the chapter as a whole.

As I sit back and look ahead to the future of our growing chapter, I can't help but be excited to see how quickly this region is growing and developing into such a cohesive group of individuals who are so committed to growing the event industry. Reno-Tahoe is a true destination full of so many unique venues and event options, and of course, the best event and catering professionals in the business!  As you think about your business goals for the year, let your investment in NACE be on the top of your list.  There is no better time than now to get involved with the chapter. It will be one of the best investments, both personally and professionally you can make for yourself and for your business.

I wish all of you a happy, healthy and productive 2010, and looking forward to seeing you all at the next NACE “Breakfast” meeting (that’s right, breakfast) on February 17th at Harrah's Lake Tahoe.

All My Best,

Robin Eissinger
