All the beautiful colors on the trees confirm it!  Fall is here, and the holidays are just around the corner. 

It always amazing to me how quickly this time of year seems to come.  For 15 years now, on January 1, I always seem to say to myself  "Whoo, thank goodness - we have 12 months before the holidays come again" - Its hard to believe that the Holiday Countdown is already on again.

I know for many of our Event Colleagues (both here in Reno and around the nation), its been a tough year. The abundance of events has slowed - but is finally starting to pick-back up.  My advice to everyone is GO OUT AND MAKE IT HAPPEN!   If you are feeling that your business is slow and you are frustrated, then SELL, SELL, SELL!!!  In the next few years, the ones who get the event contracts will be the ones who truly jump into selling themselves.  Don't let this economy get you down, instead - get mad at it, and show the economy that YOU are the BOSS!!!

Our Reno-Tahoe NACE Chapter has some very exciting things coming up.  A new Board is about to be voted into office in November.  I invite all members and non-members to be at this November meeting!  Many strong candidates are running for offices in our NACE Chapter, and this will be everyones opportunity to meet them, and hear what they can bring to the table.  The meeting will be taking place at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.  After the election is complete, our group will be helping the Food Bank to pack-up boxes of food to be distrbuted to the needy in our area. 

As a non-profit association, we feel it is very important to partner with the local community and "give back".  We have decided to partner with the Food Bank, and our November meeting will help to kick that partnership off.  The Reno Tahoe NACE Chapter will also be partnering with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for our 2nd Annual Tabletop Competition, to be held at the Silver Legacy in March.

UPCOMING ELECTIONS FOR THE 2010 RENO-TAHOE NACE BOARD

As the Reno-Tahoe NACE Chapter continues to grow and develop, we have a need for many more positions on our Board.  This is a great way to develop relationships with some of the top Event Planners and Professionals in our town.  Some of the positions require more work than others.  Here are just a few of the positions we are looking to fill in 2010.

Membership Chair,  Raffle Chair,  PR & Social Networking Chair,  Website Chair,  Event Professional Representative  & Secretary.

In addition to the above mentioned positions, we are currently seeking a non-partisan/non-board member who can act as our Election Chair.  This person will be responsible for disiminating information about the various available positions to anyone who is interested, as well as counting the ballots at our November Meeting Elections.
