Seasons Greetings!!!  The year is almost over and its hard to believe how quickly its gone.  

The First Ever Reno-Tahoe NACE Christmas in November event was a HUGE success.  A big thank you to everyone who made it happen.  The tabletops were very impressive and as spectacular as many of the winning tables that can be seen at national tabletop competitions during The Special Event Show and Catersource/Eventsolutions Tradeshow.  The tabletop design competition will be an annual event, so if you had to miss it this year, we will hope to see you participate or attend in 2009.

The Reno-Tahoe NACE Board just had its final meeting of 2008 in December.  At this meeting some very exciting items were discussed.  In 2009 our local chapter will partner with The Food Bank of Northern Nevada.  When we have our Tabletop Fundraising Event next year, a portion of the proceeds will be used to benefit this very important local charity.  In addition to the exciting news about The Food Bank, we are currently putting together a list of local benefits available to all NACE members.  Be on the lookout for that list in January of 2009.

We have some really great meeting and speakers planned for 2009.  The National membership drive will last through the end of the year, so if you are considering joining, now is the time to do it.

A big congratulations to the winner of the 1st Ever Reno Tahoe NACE Tabletop Competition, Felicia Gantar, of Felicia Event and Wedding Coordination.  Felicia's table was a contemporary fantasy called "Crystal Bliss".  The table included pastel blue lamour linens with an overlay of white organza on a square table.  Burst chargers with pastel blue napkins decorated wtih a jeweled belt loop and "frosted" place card were highlighted by a menu made of chocolate.  The silverware was oyster frost and stemware was a silhouette style.  The beautiful centerpiece included phaleonopsis orchids, calla lilies, hydrangea and hanging amaranthus designed in alternating square glass with illuminating aqua crystals and ostrich feathers.  The table was spectacular.

The next meeting is January 14 2009 at the El Dorado Reno.  This meeting features San Francisco Event Producer Robert Fountain.  Robert is well known for Gala Events he has produced and designed for the San Francisco Ballet, San Francisco Symphony and San Francisco Opera.  He is well known around the United States and has appeared on numberous national TV Shows as a design and lifestyle expert.  Robert will be discussing 2009 design trends and be sharing his "secrets to successful events".

CATERING / CONVENTION SERVICES MANAGER NEEDED

The Silver Legacy Resort Casino is currently seeking adynamic and highly motivated Catering and Convention Services Manager.

Qualified candidates must have previous eperience in a high volume establishment, excellent communication skills and a solid sales background while presenting a professional image at all times.  A strong background in Food an dBeverage is preferable.

This position is responsible for all aspects of planning, oversight and post conference follow-up for convention sales groups and social catering functions
